It is never too late to quit smoking

At Peace Medical Center we understand the struggles you face when you have made the decision to quit smoking and we are here to help.

Smoking is dangerous, especially for those with cardiovascular or lung diseases.
Quitting will only improve your health, make you feel better, live longer and you will save money.

If you are unsure about the benefits of quitting smoking, talk to your doctor.
Your physician will be able to explain to you why it is important and the benefits you will feel.
Also treatment groups and support groups are available.
Talk to your doctor if you would like to try medicines to help you stop smoking.

Do you want to stop but need help making a plan?  Use the tips below:

  • Set a date 2 weeks out to stop smoking. and stick to that date.  Let that date be your anniversary of your last cigarette.
  • Throw away all your cigarettes as well as your ashtrays
  • Refrain from associating with other smokers, especially at the beginning
  • Tell your friends and family that you are quitting smoking and ask them for encouragement and support.
  • Talk to your doctor about quitting smoking so they can keep track of your progress.
  • If you are facing side effects such as weight gain or feeling depressed, make an appointment with your doctor, our providers at Peace Medical Center are here to help!
  • If you fail, don’t give up, try again, it’s okay, we’re here to support you with your new journey, some people need to start over 3 or 4 times before they kick the habit.

These quitlines were designed to provide support just like in a quit smoking class and can be a compliment to your doctor’s care.
